  1. Sweating: induces sweating by stimulating and disseminating the Lung Qi, regulating the interactions between the Ying and Wei Qi so that the pores open and pathogenic influences in the exterior can be released with sweating.
  2. Vomiting: stimulates the Stomach so that phlegm, stagnant food or toxic matter stuck in the throat, Lung or Stomach can be expelled through the mouth.
  3. Purging: induces defecation to cleanse the bowels and expel excessive pathogenic influences through the rectum.
  4. Harmonizing: regulates the functions of different levels or organs.
  5. Warming: warms the interior and unblocks the meridians to expel cold from the interior or meridians, thereby restoring the functions of Yang Qi.
  6. Clearing: clears Heat and drains Fire to eliminate Heat, Fire and their associated toxicity from the body.
  7. Reducing: gradually reduces or eliminates accumulation due to the retention of food or other causes.
  8. Tonifying: tonify by enriching, nourishing or replenishing those aspects of the body that are weak or deficient.
